I was out for a casual ride with a long-time photo buddy and we randomly made the choice to visit Lumaha’i Beach. Walking down the trail we could hear the sound of waves like canons firing as they crashed against the shore. The surf was so intense that it was forcing people to run for safety into the trees that lined the beach or to scramble onto the adjacent volcanic rock cliffs. After a few frantic dashes into the trees I was able to catch this view of the inside curl of a wave that looked like a giant egg was going to come shooting out. That transitory moment of perfection in the curl and shape of the wave was truly breathtaking as Nature was showing off all it’s amazing aquatic architecture that day.
